米韓、北の発射を受け大規模な演習を実施 （和訳）

韓国と米国は火曜日、２０機の戦闘機が参加する航空戦力演習を実施しました。北朝鮮が核実験を間近に控えている中、同盟国が軍事力を誇示するかたちです。
訓練は、韓国の西海岸沖で行われました。韓国国防省は、北朝鮮が日曜日に８発の弾道ミサイルを発射したことに対する答えだと述べています。
韓国軍が公開した写真では、飛行機が小さな三角形の編隊で飛行しています。韓国政府関係者によると、この演習には韓国の戦闘機１６— F-３５A、F-１５K、KF-１６を含む—と米空軍のF-１６戦闘機４機が参加したといういうことです。
韓国軍によると、韓国と米国は”北朝鮮の挑発行為に対して迅速かつ正確に攻撃する強い能力と意志を示した”と言います。両国は、北朝鮮のさらなる行動を注視していると付け加えます。
韓国軍によると、北朝鮮は日曜日、３５分間に８発の短距離弾道ミサイルを海に向けて発射した。これとのことです。これは、北朝鮮による今年１８回目のミサイル発射です。
月曜日には、米国と韓国が独自に８発のミサイルを海に向けて発射し、これに応えました。

韓国の保守系新大統領、ユン・ソク・ヨール氏は、北朝鮮の挑発行為と呼ばれるものに対して迅速かつ毅然とした態度で答えることを約束しました。
先月行われた会談で、ユン氏とジョー・バイデン米大統領は合同軍事演習の規模を拡大することを話し合いました。韓国の前政権下では、演習の回数は少ないものでした。
また、北朝鮮がまもなく７回目の核実験を実施する可能性も指摘されています。再び核実験が行われれば、地域の緊張がさらに高まる可能性があります。
ラファエル・マリアーノ・グロッシ氏は国際原子力機関（IAEA）のトップです。彼は月曜日に、北朝鮮の核実験場でトンネルの入り口の1つが開かれたことを明らかにしました。これは核実験の準備かもしれない、とグロッシ氏は言います。
そのような実験は、国連安全保障理事会の決議に反するものであり、深刻な懸念材料となると彼は述べています。
北朝鮮は、兵器実験のために過去最も忙しい年の真っただ中にあります。キム・ジョン・ウン委員長が２０２１年に作成した兵器開発希望リストを進展させようとしているのです。
US, South Korea Hold Large Exercise Following North’s Launches
South Korea and the United States held an air power exercise involving 20 fighter planes Tuesday. The allies’ latest demonstration of military strength comes as North Korea is showing signs it may soon test nuclear weapons.
The training was held in the sea off South Korea’s western coast. South Korea’s Ministry of National Defense said it was an answer to North Korea’s launch of eight ballistic missiles Sunday.
Pictures released by South Korea’s military showed the airplanes flying in a small, triangular formation. The exercise involved 16 South Korean fighter planes — including the F-35A, F-15K, and KF-16 — and four F-16 fighters from the U.S. Air Force, said South Korean officials.
South Korea and the U.S. showed “its strong ability and willingness to strike against North Korea’s provocations quickly and accurately,” the South Korean military said. The two countries are watching for further actions by North Korea, it added.
North Korea on Sunday fired eight short-range ballistic missiles into the sea over a 35-minute period, South Korea’s military said. It was North Korea’s 18th round of missile launches this year.
On Monday, the United States and South Korea answered by launching eight missiles of their own into the ocean.
South Korea’s new conservative president, Yoon Suk Yeol, has promised to answer quickly and firmly to what he calls North Korean provocations.
During a meeting last month, Yoon and U.S. President Joe Biden discussed holding larger joint military exercises. There had been fewer exercises under the previous South Korean government.
There are also signs that North Korea could soon carry out its seventh nuclear test. Another nuclear test could further raise tensions in the area.
Rafael Mariano Grossi is head of the International Atomic Energy Agency. He said Monday that one of the tunnel entrances has been opened at North Korea’s nuclear test site. That may be in preparation for a nuclear test, Grossi said.
Such a test, he said “would contravene U.N. Security Council resolutions and would be a cause for serious concern.”
North Korea is in the middle of one of its busiest years ever for weapons tests. It is attempting to make progress on a weapons development wish list created by leader Kim Jong Un in 2021.
